While Anna Maria Island has public beaches that are used for weddings the fact is that most beach weddings performed on the island are private beach venues. The following are our best bets and Anna Maria beach wedding location tips.
Anna Maria Beach
Located on Anna Maria’s northern tip with views of the skyway bridge and St. Petersburg Florida. Great beach, best bet for small weddings and ceremonies with no decorations or chairs to set up. Parking is on-street and scattered.
Holmes Beach
Similar to Anna Maria beach. Holmes beach has on-street parking in a residential neighborhood area, NO designated parking area. Nice beach with white sand and a best bet for that intimate beach wedding ceremony, NO or small hand carried decorations only.
Manatee Beach
Manatee Beach is our first larger public beach with parking, lifeguards, picnic tables, restrooms and more. Manatee beach can get crowded even in the early evenings and this doesn’t make an intimate beach wedding possible. This beach is a best bet for fun, NOT beach weddings.
Bradenton Beach
The Bradenton Beach location is very busy with businesses and shopping. Parking is limited and generally the area is too crowded for beach weddings. This beach is a best bet for getting sun and going shopping or dining. But there is one location on Bradenton beach that remains as a good spot for beach wedding ceremonies. Cortez Beach
Cortez beach is located between 5th and 13th streets along the Gulf of Mexico Drive area. Nice beach, white sand and more family oriented. The problem is that this beach gets crowded also. Note: Many of these beaches are NOT wide and people must jockey for beach real estate. Cortez beach is a best bet for small weddings on off-days.
Coquina Beach
Coquina beach is the largest public beach with plenty of parking and full amenities. Younger crowd who can and will be having fun and making lots of noise. This beach is a best bet for a full day at the beach with swimming and a picnic…but don’t bother even thinking about a beach wedding at Coquina.
