Siesta Key Wedding Weather: Best Months to Tie the Knot
A Siesta key wedding or destination wedding may be on your wish list and the reason why you’re here reading this. Many new and newer visitors need a bit of ‘weather knowledge’ before making the decision for an outdoor ‘Beach Wedding’ in Siesta keys Florida.
Siesta key beach is truly a magical place for all things ‘Beach’ including a second day, or evening trip to Siesta just to catch sunset over the Gulf of Mexico – Which is a nightly event all on its own that thousands of visitors, and locals alike look forward to.
If you would like a Siesta key Wedding Arch Package we have beautiful florals and designs, or if you want something simple we hae 2 options. The Tiki package at Siesta beach or the Sand Ceremony for your Siesta key wedding.
Siesta Key’s Climate
Northern visitors need to understand that the weather in South Florida is very different than what the weather is like in the Northern states. The rain is different, the sun is more potent.
South Florida is the most Southern state in the lower 48. We are in a different climate zone which is Sub-Tropical, meaning plenty of rain, heat and humidity in the summer months. The sun is even at a different, and at a more direct angle this far South.
“The sun’s rays hit Florida at a more direct angle, closer to 90°, which concentrates them…”
Also, understnad that a sunburn is waiting even on cloudy days, as the sun’s harmful rays are not stopped by clouds alone. Fair skinned folks need to bring a good sun block for face and body protection year round. No days off, not even in January.
Take a minute to see our Siesta key venue Q&A post which answers many of those questions you have about a beach wedding at Siesta key.
“Because Florida lies so close to the equator, it receives stronger sunlight than the rest of the country...”
Siesta key Wedding – Monthly Weather Planner
As the weather chart above shows the most rainfall occurs in a 4 month period starting in June and running thru September.
While this is generally true our own experience from living here (30+ years) is that the majority of rain in September happens in the first-half of the month. Meaning that the second-half of September is much dryer and leads us into the official “Dry-Season” starting October 1st.
Also keep in mind that Florida is the ‘Lightning Capital’ of the US. Please DO NOT be out on the beach when there is lightning in the area.
Hurricane season starts June 1st and officially ends on November 30th yearly. The only good thing about a Hurricane is that we generally see them coming, they are not a surprise event. Check with your Siesta key, Lido key or Sarasota accommodations about full refunds for an incoming Hurricane.
